AMOEBAS
“The light calls, and a symbiotic organism is lured into space. Going back and forth, it’s elegantly lopsided and harmoniously clumsy. Zipped in red, two parts of the whole divergent as they share a mindless voyage of discovery. Until they see each other, they do not see you. “

Amoebas is a performance for identity construction and introspection on how and what builds our own identification. The word “amoeba” takes on a dualistic meaning. On one side is the adjective used to describe a person who shows no personality, initiative, or passion. A seemingly aimless state of mindlessness. On the other side is the name of the unicellular organism whose peculiarity is transformation, never being in the same shape (from ancient greek ἀμοιβή, change, transformation). Another matter of study behind the piece is the process of identity development in the social context. A process that goes through 4 stages: identification, individuation, imitation and internalization.
