Introduction:
MEMBRANE is a durational performance that explores the nature of dreams and the unconscious mind. It takes a unique approach to storytelling, deconstructing the narrative and presenting a nonlinear sum of scenes. The performance delves into the ethereal and mundane happenings of unconscious states, focusing on a visual artist’s solitary process in creating and building her art gallery from scratch. As she sleepwalks through waking states and wake-walks through dreams, the true nature of reality slips into question, blurring the boundaries between the artist and her creations.
Deconstruction and Continued Research:
Continuing the journey that began in December 2021/January 2022 in Bangkok, Thailand, we are excited to embark on the deconstruction of this concept once again during a residency. Our goal is to create an immersive show specifically tailored for site-specific galleries, museums, and other performative spaces. By fusing performative and visual arts with original music scores, we aim to push the boundaries of multidisciplinary art forms.
New Creation and Set Design:
The new iteration of Membrane will introduce a minimal sonography set specifically designed for museum and gallery spaces. Props will include versatile long black fabric, which will be utilized in various situations depending on each scene, along with motorbike helmets. These elements will enhance the visual and performative aspects of the show, contributing to the overall immersive experience.
